For the past four years, she has been part of the NRDA team responding to the Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico on behalf of BP. She was on rotation in the Incident Command Center in Houma Louisiana through October 2010, and continues to support research and field efforts. For PG&E, she has led the development of dam safety outreach materials for homeowners, recreators and businesses in the inundation zones. For Waste Management, she spent six years developing easy-to-use training documents for all 45,000 field workers. The trainings, issued monthly in Spanish, English and French at low literacy levels, were geared toward coaching workers to prevent leaks, spills and other environmental damage through their daily routines.
Previously, Jude ran the Public Affairs practice at Weber Shandwick in Los Angeles, where she represented the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPD officers’ union) and Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs (LA Sheriff’s deputies’ union). For LAPD, she drove recruitment efforts through film trailers, advertising and communications. For the unions, she represented their positions on use of force, workplace and benefits issues, resulting in a campaign that won national honors and a Bronze SABRE Award.
While at Hill & Knowlton, Jude worked on emergency response issues for the California Department of Health Services Emergency preparedness office, tasked with rolling out the smallpox vaccine program for first responders and providing updated emergency and bio-terrorism information to local health departments. Her work included creation of a statewide emergency Risk Communication manual for local health departments, and dark websites to respond to wildfires and other natural and bio-terrorism emergencies.
Jude is a specialist in integrating design, multimedia and animation into communication materials, in order to increase attention and cognition. Jude developed her creative and project management skills as a senior production executive in film and television, responsible for creative decision-making, budgets and schedules. Among her credits are stints at Dreamworks, Disney Channel, Columbia Pictures and Warner Brothers.
